Punta Cana continues to be a top destination for American tourists, who make up the majority of visitors to the Dominican Republic. According to the latest report, a significant 68.8% of tourists come from the United States. This trend highlights the enduring appeal of Punta Cana’s beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture.
Tourists received from North America are, for the most part, from the United States with 897,031 and Canada with 497,260. These represent 44.2% and 24.5%, respectively, of total arrivals in the first quarter. These countries have historically been the ones that generate the largest number of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
The number of non-resident visitors from the United States increased this quarter by 142,350 foreigners, indicating an 18.9% variation compared to the same period in 2023. Similarly, the arrival of Canadian tourists was 71,973 visitors, 16.9% more than the previous year, the report explains.
From Colombia, 67,085 tourists were received, representing 3.3% of travelers; from Argentina, 63,720, accounting for 3.1%; and from France, 54,315, equivalent to 2.7% of the total tourists arriving in the country.
